Our terms and conditions

Proposed effective date: To be determined

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Afterimage Inc. (Korean legal name: 주식회사 애프터이미지; “acrylic,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) governing your use of the acrylic website, desktop application, AI features, document tools, and related services.

1. Accepting these Terms

By creating an account, purchasing a plan, or using acrylic, you agree to these Terms. If you use acrylic for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and “you” includes the organization.

Our Subscription Terms apply to paid and automatically renewing services. Checkout terms and feature-specific notices may also apply. Mandatory consumer law controls if it conflicts with these Terms.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 18 or the age of legal majority where you live and able to enter a binding agreement. A minor may use acrylic only with valid permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian where permitted.

You must provide accurate account information, keep credentials secure, and promptly notify us of unauthorized use. You may not sell, transfer, or improperly share an account. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless caused by acrylic’s failure to use reasonable security.

3. The acrylic service

acrylic is a desktop-centered document workspace designed to open, read, compare, and modify supported formats such as DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, and HWP(X) with AI assistance. Available file types, models, features, and limits may depend on your app version, operating system, plan, and provider availability.

In local mode, a local AI model performs the task on your PC. In cloud mode, acrylic sends your instruction and the document content, selection, or attachments needed for the task through our API to the selected cloud AI provider. You are responsible for choosing the mode appropriate for the sensitivity of your work and your organization’s policies.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of documents, prompts, attachments, and other content you provide. You grant acrylic a limited, nonexclusive license to host, transmit, reproduce, and process that content only as necessary to provide, secure, support, and maintain the service at your direction.

You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to provide and process your content. You are responsible for complying with privacy, confidentiality, employment, copyright, recordkeeping, and other obligations that apply to it.

To the extent permitted by law, you may use output generated for you. Output may not be unique, and similar output may be provided to others. Third-party rights and model-provider terms may apply. acrylic does not use private documents or prompts to train a general-purpose AI model unless you separately and knowingly opt into a clearly described program.

5. AI limitations and review

AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated, or inappropriate and can alter formulas, figures, citations, or formatting incorrectly. acrylic does not provide legal, medical, financial, accounting, tax, or other professional advice.

You must keep appropriate backups and review output before saving over an original, publishing, filing, or using it for a consequential decision. You may not rely solely on automated output to make a decision that has a legal or similarly significant effect on a person.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use acrylic to:

  • violate law or another person’s privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or other rights;
  • create or distribute malware, phishing, fraud, unlawful surveillance, exploitation, or instructions intended to cause serious harm;
  • bypass security, access controls, usage limits, or payment restrictions;
  • disrupt the service, probe systems without authorization, or impose unreasonable load;
  • extract models, training data, source code, or service data except where applicable law expressly permits reverse engineering; or
  • misrepresent AI output as independently verified human work in a way intended to deceive.

We may investigate suspected abuse using the minimum information reasonably necessary and may restrict access when needed to protect users, the service, or legal rights.

7. Team accounts

A team administrator may invite or remove members, manage seats and billing, configure organization settings, and access account-level information made available by the product. If you use an organization-managed account, the organization may control that account and related work metadata.

The exact behavior for content export, reassignment, and deletion when a member leaves must be confirmed in product notices before these Terms are published. You should use a personal account for personal material that should not be controlled by an organization.

8. Paid services

Plans, usage limits, billing intervals, taxes, and checkout prices are shown before purchase. Recurring plans are also governed by the Subscription Terms. Usage credits are not cash, deposits, or stored value and may not be transferred or redeemed for cash unless required by law or expressly stated at purchase.

9. Third-party services

acrylic uses or connects to third parties for authentication, commerce, AI inference, hosting, analytics, web search, image generation, and other optional functions. Your use of a third-party feature may also be governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy.

We do not control a third party’s continued availability or independent conduct. We will use reasonable efforts to communicate material service impacts and provide alternatives when practical.

10. Software license and updates

Subject to these Terms, acrylic grants you a limited, revocable, nonexclusive, nontransferable right to install and use the application for its intended purpose. acrylic and its licensors retain all rights in the service, software, design, trademarks, and documentation not expressly granted to you.

We may provide patches or require updates for security, compatibility, or legal reasons. Some updates may change or discontinue features. We will give reasonable notice when a planned change materially reduces a paid core feature.

11. Feedback

If you voluntarily send feedback, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide right to use it to improve acrylic without payment or restriction, provided we do not publicly identify you or disclose your confidential information without permission.

12. Suspension and termination

You may stop using acrylic and delete your account through the available account controls. Canceling a paid subscription is governed by the Subscription Terms.

We may suspend or terminate access for a material breach, nonpayment, security threat, legal requirement, or risk of harm. Unless an urgent situation prevents it, we will give notice, explain the reason, and allow a reasonable opportunity to cure. Where practical, we will allow you to export content before termination.

Deleting an account may not remove local files from your PC. Back up and delete local content on your device separately.

13. Service availability

We may modify or interrupt acrylic for maintenance, security, legal compliance, provider changes, or circumstances outside our reasonable control. We will use reasonable care to operate the service and communicate significant outages. Paid users may be entitled to a remedy when required by law or an express service commitment.

14. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ACRYLIC IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” WE DISCLAIM IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT AI OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE, THAT EVERY DOCUMENT WILL RENDER PERFECTLY, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.

These disclaimers do not limit any warranty or consumer right that cannot lawfully be waived.

15. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AFTERIMAGE INC. AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR ACRYLIC DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM. THIS LIMIT DOES NOT APPLY TO LIABILITY THAT CANNOT BE LIMITED BY LAW, INCLUDING LIABILITY ARISING FROM FRAUD, WILLFUL MISCONDUCT, OR OTHER NON-WAIVABLE OBLIGATIONS.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limits, so part of this section may not apply to you.

16. Export and sanctions compliance

You may not use or export acrylic in violation of applicable export-control, sanctions, or trade laws. You represent that you are not prohibited from receiving the service under laws that apply to you or us.

17. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any court proceeding will be brought before a court with jurisdiction under the Korean Civil Procedure Act and other applicable law. This choice does not deprive a consumer of mandatory rights or protections available under the law of the consumer’s place of residence.

Before filing a claim, you and acrylic agree to try in good faith to resolve it by sending a written description to the contact below. This draft does not include a mandatory arbitration clause or class-action waiver; any decision to add one requires separate legal and product review.

18. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms for changes in law, security, providers, or the service. We will provide advance notice of material changes and obtain consent when required. If you do not agree, you may stop using acrylic and cancel before the revised terms take effect.
